KARACHI: Bestway Cement Limited announced on Friday its plans to significantly expand its production and energy capabilities with the establishment of a Brownfield cement plant and a 6.4 MW off-grid solar power plant.
In a notification to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), Bestway Cement cited the rising demand for cement in the country as the primary driver for this initiative. The company plans to construct a Brownfield cement plant with a capacity of 7,200 tonnes of clinker per day at its Hattar site in District Haripur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This facility will also include a 9 MW Waste Heat Recovery Plant to enhance energy efficiency.
To bring this project to fruition, Bestway Cement has entered into an agreement with Sinoma International Engineering Co. Limited, a renowned Chinese firm specializing in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services. This collaboration underscores Bestway’s commitment to leveraging global expertise to meet Pakistan’s infrastructure and industrial needs.
In addition to the Brownfield plant, Bestway Cement is also focusing on renewable energy solutions to support its operations sustainably. The company has partnered with Reon Energy to set up a 6.4 MW off-grid solar power plant at the same Hattar site. This initiative aligns with Bestway’s goal of reducing its carbon footprint and contributing to the nation’s shift towards renewable energy sources.
Bestway Cement has consistently played a pivotal role in Pakistan’s construction sector by addressing the growing demand for high-quality cement. This latest investment reflects the company’s forward-looking strategy to enhance production capacity while adopting environmentally friendly energy solutions.
The integration of the Waste Heat Recovery Plant and the solar power facility will not only optimize operational efficiency but also reduce dependency on conventional energy sources, reinforcing Bestway’s position as a leader in sustainable industrial practices.
With its latest expansion plans, Bestway Cement is poised to meet the escalating infrastructure demands across Pakistan while setting a benchmark for innovation and sustainability in the cement industry.
