Grammy-winning musician Billie Eilish is reportedly set to make her film acting debut in a new adaptation of Sylvia Plath’s iconic novel, The Bell Jar, directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Sarah Polley.
Polley, who won an Academy Award for her 2022 film Women Talking, is writing the screenplay herself and has brought on Joy Gorman Wettles, known for 13 Reasons Why, as producer, according to Variety.

The novel tells the story of Esther Greenwood, a brilliant yet troubled literature student whose struggles with depression have resonated with readers for decades. While it is not yet confirmed if Eilish will play Greenwood, the project marks a major step for the singer, who has so far been known primarily as a voice behind hit soundtracks.
