Biometric verification for PSW inaugurated at KCAA

The introduction of biometric verification for registration on the PSW portal marks a significant milestone in streamlining customs procedures and improving the overall experience for traders.

In a pioneering move aimed at enhancing trade facilitation, the Karachi Customs Agents Association (KCAA) inaugurated the NADRA e-Sahulat Counter for the Pakistan Single Window (PSW) at its Head Office.

Director General of the Directorate General of Reforms and Automation (Weboc Project), Wajid Ali, officially inaugurated the NADRA e-Sahulat Counter at the KCAA’s Head Office on Monday. The event was attended by KCAA President Wasiq Hussain Khan, Director Reform & Automation Engr. Riyaz Memon, Collector of Customs Appraisement (East) Fayyaz Rasool, Additional Director PSW Naveed Abbas, and other office bearers and members of the Managing Committee.

During the inauguration, Director General Wajid Ali highlighted the transformative impact of the Pakistan Single Window facility. He emphasized that PSW would significantly reduce time, cost, and complexity in customs procedures while enhancing the quality of the overall experience for all stakeholders. The implementation of the PSW is expected to support government agencies in adopting an Integrated Risk Management approach for more efficient enforcement of cross-border trade-related controls.

Wajid Ali further mentioned that the PSW’s implementation aligns with global trade standards, specifically the World Trade Organization’s Trade Facilitation Agreement. The PSW is poised to unlock Pakistan’s potential as a trade hub, fostering compliance with international trade norms and facilitating ease of doing business.

President of KCAA, Wasiq Hussain Khan, expressed his optimism about the PSW, describing it as a mega transformation to facilitate trade. He underscored that KCAA takes pride in launching a help desk for the PSW, where members (customs agents) and the business community can avail themselves of the biometric verification facility.

In addition to biometric verification, the PSW is designed to serve as a comprehensive platform for traders, providing a one-stop solution for various customs and trade-related procedures. The integration of NADRA e-Sahulat Counter at the KCAA Head Office reflects a commitment to embracing digital solutions for enhanced efficiency and convenience.

The General Secretary of KCAA, Mehmood ul Hasan Awan, urged participants to disseminate information about the availability of the NADRA e-Sahulat facility for the PSW at KCAA among all members. This initiative aims to ensure that a maximum number of individuals in the business community can benefit from the convenience and security offered by biometric verification.

The introduction of biometric verification at the KCAA’s Head Office represents a tangible step towards modernizing customs procedures and aligning them with international best practices. As Pakistan continues to embrace digital transformation in various sectors, the PSW stands out as a flagship initiative contributing to the country’s economic growth and trade facilitation goals.
