Blake Lively is fiercely pushing back against Justin Baldoni after reports surfaced that Taylor Swift may be dragged into their ongoing legal dispute.
On Friday, September 12, the Daily Mail reported that Swift had “agreed” to sit for a deposition in the heated battle involving the It Ends With Us co-stars.
Just hours later, Lively’s legal team filed a strong rebuttal obtained by Us Weekly. In the filing, Lively, 38, accused Baldoni, 41, and his legal team of deliberately inserting Swift’s name into the case as part of a “relentless media strategy” aimed at generating attention rather than focusing on the facts. Lively opposed Baldoni’s request for extended discovery, arguing that his team had months to pursue this deposition but failed to act in time.
Her attorneys argued that Baldoni’s camp only contacted Swift’s representatives earlier this week, despite having more than six months to arrange a proper schedule. “At any point during this time, they could have served a subpoena or coordinated with Swift’s team,” the filing stated. “Instead, they waited until the eleventh hour, and now attempt to shift blame.”
Swift’s spokesperson also weighed in, underscoring her minimal connection to the project. “Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie,” the statement clarified. “This subpoena appears to be designed to use her name for headlines and online clicks, not to uncover relevant evidence.”
With tensions escalating, the case involving Lively and Baldoni is set for trial in May 2026, where further clashes are expected both inside and outside the courtroom.
