Blake Lively has actively intervened to prevent actor and director Justin Baldoni from obtaining private messages, particularly those involving global pop icon Taylor Swift, in an ongoing legal dispute.
According to reports, Lively’s legal team stepped in firmly, arguing that the messages have no connection to the case at hand. Despite these objections, Baldoni’s attorneys attempted to directly subpoena Swift and her legal representatives in hopes of retrieving the communication.
However, Swift’s team swiftly pushed back, dismissing the move as an unnecessary and baseless effort. They characterized the attempt as a “pointless search” and an unjustified invasion of privacy.
Even after Swift’s team rejected the request, Lively continued to oppose the release of the messages, maintaining that they were irrelevant and not subject to discovery in the ongoing litigation.
A spokesperson for Blake Lively strongly condemned Baldoni’s actions, stating, “We will continue to call out Baldoni’s relentless efforts to exploit Ms Swift’s popularity, which from day one has been nothing more than a distraction from the serious sexual harassment and retaliation accusations he and the Wayfarer Studios parties are facing.”
Despite the pushback, U.S. District Judge Lewis Liman ruled that Lively’s objections were not sufficient to block access to the requested information. The judge emphasized that her claim — that Baldoni was trying to use Swift’s name for publicity — did not override the potential relevance of the messages to the case.
The dispute arises amid ongoing legal proceedings involving Justin Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios, who are facing allegations of sexual harassment and retaliation.
