Blake Lively to star in Lionsgate’s The Survival List

Hollywood star Blake Lively is teaming up once again with Lionsgate for an exciting new project titled The Survival List, an action-packed romantic comedy.

The film follows Annie, a sharp-witted reality TV producer who reluctantly signs up for a survival show hosted by the famed Chopper Lane. However, when a shipwreck leaves them stranded on a deserted island, Annie quickly realizes that Chopper isn’t the expert he claims to be—forcing her to take charge in order to keep them both alive.

As the unlikely duo fights for survival, their partnership evolves into unexpected chemistry, blending humor, romance, and adventure. While Lively is confirmed to lead the film as Annie, casting for Chopper Lane has not yet been announced.

The screenplay comes from Tom Melia, best known for Rye Lane. Lionsgate acquired the script with Scott O’Brien overseeing production. Acclaimed producer Marc Platt, recognized for hits like La La Land and Wicked, is also in talks to produce alongside Lively.

This project continues Lively’s collaboration with Lionsgate, following her successful 2018 thriller A Simple Favor and its upcoming sequel Another Simple Favor, scheduled for release in 2025. The Survival List will also mark her first big-screen appearance since It Ends With Us, which earned an impressive $351 million worldwide.

However, the success of It Ends With Us has been overshadowed by an ongoing legal feud between Lively and her co-star and director Justin Baldoni.

The case has recently expanded to involve actress Isabela Ferrer, who played the younger version of Lively’s character Lily Bloom. Ferrer accused Baldoni of harassment over repeated subpoena attempts, though Baldoni’s lawyers have denied the claims, arguing the requests were legitimate. Both sides continue to file court documents, with the trial set for March 2026.

Despite the legal drama, Lively is pushing ahead with her career, with The Survival List poised to showcase her in a dynamic, adventurous role. The film promises to deliver a mix of survival thrills and romantic comedy charm, adding yet another standout performance to Lively’s growing filmography.
