Blake Lively Turns to Taylor Swift Amid $161M Legal Battle

Hollywood star Blake Lively is reportedly turning to her close friend Taylor Swift for emotional support amid her ongoing legal dispute with It Ends With Us director Justin Baldoni.

According to court filings, the Gossip Girl alum alleged that she suffered nearly $161 million in damages due to what she described as a “smear campaign” linked to the movie’s release. Lively’s lawsuit claims she lost $56.2 million in acting roles, $49 million from her beauty brand Blake Brown, and $22 million from her beverage line Betty Buzz.

The high-profile conflict has sparked rumors that the drama may have strained Lively’s long-standing friendship with Taylor Swift, who has been one of her closest confidantes since 2015. The pair first met during Swift’s 1989 World Tour in Australia and have shared numerous milestones — from celebrating holidays together to attending NFL games and even the 2024 Super Bowl.

Their bond deepened when Lively directed Swift’s music video for I Bet You Think About Me, which earned a CMA nomination. Swift is also the godmother to Blake and Ryan Reynolds’ four children.

However, tension reportedly arose after Lively’s lawsuit referenced the Lover singer in court documents. Swift’s team has since denied any involvement, clarifying that the pop star only permitted her song my tears ricochet to appear in the film.

Adding fuel to the rumors, fans speculate that a song from Swift’s recent album The Life of a Showgirl titled Cancelled — featuring lyrics about “friends cloaked in Gucci and in scandal” — may subtly reference the alleged fallout between the two stars.
