A new biography has shed light on the real reason behind the breakup of one of Hollywood’s most glamorous ‘90s couples—Brad Pitt and Gwyneth Paltrow.

According to Gwyneth: The Biography by Amy Odell, Pitt reportedly felt uneasy about Paltrow’s meteoric rise to fame during their relationship.

The book reveals that Paltrow often confided in late celebrity makeup artist Kevyn Aucoin about the emotional tension she experienced with Brad. A close source claimed that the actor “seemed to feel weird by her success and all the attention she received,” suggesting Pitt may have struggled with her rising star power.

Aucoin, a trusted confidant of Paltrow’s, eventually advised her, “You really need to end this,” pointing to the growing imbalance in their relationship.

The two first met in 1994 on the set of Se7en, where Brad Pitt, already a major Hollywood heartthrob, was instantly charmed by the young actress. In a 1997 interview, the Fight Club star admitted he became “goofy” and tongue-tied around her.

Their love story captured headlines, especially after Pitt professed his love for Paltrow during his 1996 Golden Globe acceptance speech, calling her “my angel” and “the love of my life.” He even defended her when she revealed being harassed by Harvey Weinstein, warning the disgraced producer to never go near her again.

Though they became engaged in late 1996, the relationship ended just six months later. While fans saw a fairytale, the biography suggests Brad Pitt’s insecurity played a pivotal role behind the scenes.
