Pop icon Britney Spears is already showing resilience following her recent arrest for driving under the influence in California, according to longtime friend and former assistant Sean Phillip.
The “Toxic” singer briefly texted Phillip after news of the incident broke, reassuring him: “I’m OK.” Speaking on Good Morning Britain on March 6, Phillip said Spears gave him permission to discuss the situation publicly.
Phillip emphasized that the arrest does not reflect Spears’ character, describing her as “one of the most strong women that I’ve ever met.” He added, “She just keeps on going,” highlighting her ability to overcome challenges.
According to police records, Spears was taken into custody in Ventura County around 9 p.m. on March 4 and was released the following morning. A court date has been set for May 4, 2026.
A spokesperson for the Grammy-winning artist called the incident “unfortunate and completely inexcusable” and confirmed that Spears is committed to complying with legal requirements.
Family support is expected during this period, with her sons Sean Preston Federline (20) and Jayden James Federline (19) likely to spend time with her.
Meanwhile, ex-partners Sam Asghari and Jason Alexander urged the public to respect her privacy. Asghari stated, “Everybody makes mistakes and everybody deserves privacy,” while Alexander wrote online, “Rumors spread faster than facts… Britney Spears deserves the same thing anyone else does: facts, fairness, and due process.”
This incident has sparked media attention, but those close to Spears stress her resilience and ongoing commitment to moving forward.
