According to market analysts, strong institutional buying helped reverse earlier cautious sentiment.

Maaz Mulla, Vice President Equity Sales at Topline Securities Limited, said the bulls returned with authority as investors regained confidence following the market’s recent overreaction to regional developments.

“Strong institutional buying turned the tide after the market’s recent overreaction to regional issues, as confidence swiftly replaced caution,” he noted.

The rally gathered pace throughout the session, pushing the benchmark index to an intraday high of nearly 5,699 points before settling at 161,210, reflecting broad-based buying across major sectors.

Index-heavy stocks including Hub Power Company Limited, Oil and Gas Development Company Limited, Fauji Fertilizer Company Limited, Engro Holdings Limited and Meezan Bank Limited led the surge, collectively contributing 2,197 points to the index’s gain.

Market participation remained robust, with total traded volume reaching about 723 million shares and turnover recorded at Rs35.1 billion. Shares of K Electric Limited dominated the volume chart, with more than 175 million shares traded during the session.

Analysts believe the strong rebound signals renewed investor optimism, though future market direction will depend on economic indicators, corporate earnings, and regional developments.
