KARACHI: In a major step towards transforming Pakistan’s transportation landscape, BYD Pakistan – Mega Motor Company (BYD|MMC) has joined forces with HUBCO Green (Private) Limited (HGL) to launch the nation’s most expansive DC fast-charging network dedicated to new energy vehicles (NEVs).
This collaboration marks a turning point in accelerating the adoption of electric mobility across the country.
Under this ambitious initiative, HGL will deploy around 128 DC fast chargers across Pakistan within the next three years, with 50 units set for installation by the end of 2025. This joint effort between BYD and HGL directly targets the existing gap in electric vehicle infrastructure, helping to eliminate one of the main obstacles to widespread NEV adoption—limited access to reliable charging facilities.
The charging network will be developed strategically across three primary segments: densely populated urban centers through partnerships with major Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) like PSO, PARCO Gunvor, and Attock Petroleum Limited; intercity highways with fast chargers positioned every 150–200 kilometers to enable long-distance NEV travel; and key destination points such as malls, hospitals, hotels, and commercial hubs, providing added convenience to NEV users.
Several charging stations have already become operational in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, including locations at PSO outlets and BYD dealerships, demonstrating early momentum in the nationwide rollout.
“This partnership with HGL is not just about infrastructure—it’s about building trust in the electric mobility ecosystem,” said Danish Khaliq, Vice President of Sales and Strategy at BYD Pakistan. “Together with HGL, we are helping shape the future of transportation, addressing range anxiety and setting new benchmarks for sustainable mobility.”
Masood Zafar, Vice President of Projects at HGL, emphasized, “By collaborating with BYD, we are laying the foundation for Pakistan’s green future. This partnership reflects our shared vision of empowering communities and creating cleaner cities through accessible electric vehicle infrastructure.”
This forward-thinking alliance between BYD and HGL not only aligns with the government’s climate action strategy but also positions Pakistan as a regional leader in sustainable mobility, significantly reducing the nation’s carbon emissions while promoting innovation and energy efficiency.
