China’s leading new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer, BYD, has unveiled the first official teaser of the upcoming Fang Cheng Bao (FCB) Tai 7 SUV.
Targeted at families who enjoy outdoor adventures, the new model adds to BYD’s growing Fang Cheng Bao brand, which focuses on off-road and utility vehicles.
The Fang Cheng Bao lineup currently features two distinct series. The “Bao” line includes rugged off-roaders like the Bao 5 and Bao 8, both plug-in hybrid SUVs, while the “Tai” series focuses on more family-friendly models.
So far, the Tai 3 electric SUV is the only available model in this range. With the teaser released on June 7, the Tai 7 will soon expand the lineup.
The teaser image offers a glimpse of the SUV’s bold and practical design. The vehicle sports a boxy shape, a flat roofline, traditional door handles, and a rear-mounted spare tire—suggesting a blend of city comfort and off-road utility.
The high bonnet and large mirrors further enhance its robust appearance, making it suitable for both urban families and adventure seekers.
An unofficial render of the Tai 7 previously surfaced online, depicting it as a more refined alternative to the larger Bao 8.
While the exact specs of the Tai 7 are yet to be disclosed, the presence of covers on both rear fenders suggests it could be a plug-in hybrid. However, there’s still a possibility that it may be fully electric, given BYD’s use of dual charging ports on some models.
The “7” in its name hints at a mid-range position between the Bao 5 and Bao 8. With the Bao 5 priced between 239,800 and 329,800 yuan (approx. $33,350–$45,900) and the Bao 8 ranging from 379,800 to 423,800 yuan ($52,830–$58,950), the Tai 7 is expected to fall within the 300,000–350,000 yuan bracket ($41,730–$48,680). However, some speculate a starting price under 200,000 yuan ($27,820) if it’s designed as a more city-friendly option.
More details on the BYD Fang Cheng Bao Tai 7 are expected in the coming months.
