Cambridge Announces Schedule for A Level Mathematics Replacement Paper

National

Cambridge International Education has officially confirmed the date and timing for the replacement examination of A Level Mathematics (9709/32), following concerns over the premature sharing of the original paper.

According to the updated announcement, the replacement paper will be conducted during the June examination series on Monday, June 08, 2026.

The timing will vary based on administrative zones: candidates in Zone 3 will sit the paper in the morning session (AM), while those in Zone 4 will take it in the afternoon session (PM). This adjustment ensures smooth coordination across different regions while maintaining exam integrity.

Cambridge emphasized that the  efforts of students are still fully valid, and the replacement exam is designed to ensure fairness for all candidates.

Importantly, Cambridge has reassured students and institutions that the A Level results release date of 11 August remains unchanged, despite the rescheduling of the paper. This means the overall academic timeline will continue as planned.

Cambridge International stated that the decision was made after senior assessment experts concluded that a new version of the paper must be taken by all affected candidates.

The move follows evidence that the original examination material for paper 32 was shared ahead of time in violation of strict examination regulations.

The organization stressed that the priority is to protect fairness and ensure that no student is disadvantaged by malpractice.

Officials also highlighted that exam paper leakage is considered a serious breach, describing it as “theft” that undermines the credibility of international qualifications.

How does this affect students? Cambridge believes the replacement exam will restore balance and ensure that final grades remain trusted by universities and employers worldwide.

While the announcement may be disappointing for students and schools, the decision aims to safeguard academic integrity.

Students are advised to continue their preparation as normal and stay updated through their schools and official Cambridge communication channels.
