Cambridge has issued a strong warning to students, parents, and schools regarding the growing spread of fake and leaked exam papers online, stressing that anyone involved in cheating or sharing confidential material could face severe penalties, including bans from future examinations.
The examination body said there has been a sharp rise in online scams during the ongoing exam season. Fraudsters are using social media platforms, WhatsApp groups, and online pages to falsely claim they have access to leaked exam papers. Cambridge noted that these scams often target students who may already be under stress due to examinations.
According to Cambridge, most so-called leaked papers being circulated online are fake or recycled from old exam sessions with edited dates and content. The organisation warned students not to trust accounts promising guaranteed exam questions or answers in exchange for money.
Cambridge emphasized that engaging with such material, even accidentally, is considered malpractice. Students found cheating, purchasing leaked papers, or sharing confidential exam content may face serious consequences, including withholding of results, disqualification from current exams, and bans from taking future exams for up to five years.
The institution further stated that individuals involved in creating, selling, or distributing confidential papers could face permanent disqualification and may also be referred to law enforcement authorities. In some countries, spreading false information online may also lead to criminal charges and imprisonment.
Cambridge advised students to avoid interacting with suspicious accounts and immediately report such posts or pages to the relevant social media platforms. Students are also encouraged to inform their teachers or school authorities if they encounter any suspicious exam-related content online.
The examination body urged parents and guardians to support students by encouraging fair exam practices and discouraging any attempt to access leaked material. Cambridge also highlighted the importance of maintaining calm revision routines and relying only on trusted educational resources and official past papers.
Cambridge said it continues to work closely with social media companies, websites, and law enforcement agencies to remove fraudulent content and take action against individuals attempting to exploit students during exam season.
