Suzuki expands its Brunei lineup with Pakistani-built 660cc minicars, marking a first for the Japanese automaker’s overseas production network.
Suzuki has introduced the Pakistan-made Alto and Every in Brunei, marking a significant development in the Japanese automaker’s overseas production and export operations.
The two compact vehicles have been launched by Suzuki’s Brunei distributor Boustead Sdn. Bhd., expanding the company’s presence in the Southeast Asian market.
The launch took place on August 27 at a ceremony held at the Airport Mall Atrium in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei’s capital. The event also marked the 50th anniversary of Boustead’s appointment as Suzuki’s distributor in the country.
The Made-in-Pakistan Suzuki Alto and Every are manufactured by Pak Suzuki Motor Company, Suzuki’s Pakistani subsidiary.
Both models feature the same compact body dimensions and 660cc engine displacement associated with Japanese kei-class vehicles.
According to Suzuki, the Brunei introduction represents the first time the company has exported models from an overseas production facility that match the body-size and engine-displacement specifications of Japanese mini-vehicles.
The addition of the Alto and Every further strengthens Suzuki’s vehicle lineup in Brunei, where the distributor already offers models including the Jimny in three- and five-door configurations, Ertiga and Fronx.
Brunei represents an attractive market for compact vehicles due to its high level of vehicle ownership per capita. Cars are widely used for daily transportation, including commuting to workplaces and educational institutions, creating demand for practical and easy-to-drive models.
The latest launch also highlights the role of Pakistan’s automotive manufacturing sector in Suzuki’s international supply chain. Pak Suzuki’s production facilities are now supporting exports of vehicles designed around the compact dimensions and engine capacity traditionally associated with Japan’s domestic kei-car segment.
Alongside the automobile expansion, Boustead has announced plans to introduce Suzuki motorcycles in Brunei. The distributor is expected to begin motorcycle sales around autumn 2026.
The planned motorcycle range includes premium and large-displacement models such as the Hayabusa, GSX-S1000GX and GSX-8R, primarily targeting touring and leisure riders.
The launch ceremony was attended by Japanese Ambassador to Brunei Yutaka Kikuta, Suzuki executives, Boustead representatives and business partners, with around 120 people participating in the event.
