Canada announce squad for ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign

Canada have officially announced their squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, marking the team’s second appearance at cricket’s global T20 showcase. The tournament will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, with Canada aiming to build on the experience gained during their debut campaign in 2024.

In their maiden T20 World Cup appearance, Canada finished fourth in the group stage but impressed by collecting three points, highlighted by a memorable 12-run victory over Ireland. The team now hopes to deliver an even stronger performance on the world stage.

Canada qualified for the tournament by winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Americas Regional Final, where they dominated the competition by winning all six matches to finish top of the table.

During the qualifiers, Shivam Sharma’s off-spin (11 wickets at an average of 7.81) and Kaleem Sana’s left-arm pace (10 wickets at 7.5) played a crucial role in Canada’s success. On the batting front, aggressive hitter Nicholas Kirton and left-hander Yuvraj Samra, who boasts a strike rate of 160.72, will be key contributors.

Canada face a challenging start in a tough group featuring South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanistan, and the UAE. They will open their T20 World Cup campaign against South Africa in Ahmedabad on February 9, 2026.
