Capital Smart Motors has discontinued two variants of the Riddara RD6 electric pickup in Pakistan, further narrowing the company’s electric vehicle lineup amid limited market acceptance.
The company introduced the Riddara RD6 as one of Pakistan’s first fully electric pickup trucks, aiming to attract customers looking for a combination of utility and zero-emission mobility. However, the model has struggled to gain strong popularity among local consumers.
According to the latest notification issued by Capital Smart Motors, the Riddara RD6 Air and Riddara RD6 Ultra variants have officially been discontinued from the Pakistani market.
Riddara RD6 Lineup Gets Smaller
Following the latest decision, Capital Smart Motors will continue offering only two variants of the electric pickup. These include the Riddara RD6 Econ as the entry-level option and the Riddara RD6 Pro as the higher-end variant.
The discontinuation means Pakistani customers now have fewer options when considering the Riddara RD6. The development also comes after price revisions for the remaining variants, making the electric pickup a more expensive proposition for potential buyers.
Why Were the Riddara RD6 Variants Discontinued?
Capital Smart Motors has not officially disclosed the reasons behind discontinuing the RD6 Air and RD6 Ultra. However, weak consumer demand could be one of the major factors behind the decision.
The Riddara RD6 entered a market where electric pickups remain a relatively unfamiliar segment. Pakistani buyers have traditionally shown stronger interest in conventional petrol and diesel pickup trucks, particularly because of concerns surrounding charging infrastructure and long-distance usability.
Low sales may also have influenced the company’s decision to streamline the lineup. Other possible concerns include uncertainty over the vehicle’s resale value, limited customer confidence in a relatively new electric pickup brand and a lack of familiarity with fully electric commercial vehicles.
For now, the Riddara RD6 Econ and RD6 Pro remain available in Pakistan, although their future market performance will depend heavily on consumer acceptance, pricing, charging infrastructure and confidence in electric pickup ownership.
