Car sales in Pakistan jump 39% in first 11 months of FY25

Karachi, June 12, 2025 – Car sales in Pakistan saw a sharp rebound, surging by 39% year-on-year during the first eleven months (July–May) of fiscal year 2024–25.

According to data released by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA), a total of 126,226 units were sold during this period compared to the same duration last year—marking a significant recovery in the auto sector.

In May 2025 alone, car sales in Pakistan stood at 14,762 units, reflecting a 35% increase year-on-year (YoY) and a 39% rise month-on-month (MoM). Analysts at Topline Securities noted that the MoM jump was primarily due to a low base in April 2025, when road closures in Sindh amid canal-related protests disrupted vehicle deliveries.

The YoY growth in Pakistan’s car market was attributed to improving macroeconomic conditions, including declining interest rates, easing inflation, and stronger consumer confidence.

Among automakers, Sazgar Engineering (SAZEW) led the MoM gains with a 67% surge in sales and an 18% YoY increase, largely due to a weak April and the launch of the HAVAL facelift. In total, Sazgar’s car sales in Pakistan during 11MFY25 soared 111% YoY to 9,495 units, up from 4,503 last year.

Indus Motor Company (INDU) reported the highest monthly sales in nearly three years, with 4,829 units sold in May 2025—a 2.4x increase YoY and 48% MoM—driven by strong demand for Corolla, Yaris, and Cross models.

Honda Atlas Cars (HCAR) also posted impressive figures, with a 69% YoY and 17% MoM increase to 2,005 units. Meanwhile, Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) experienced an 8% YoY decline but recovered MoM with a 38% jump. Hyundai Nishat sales rose 58% YoY and 45% MoM.

Outside the car segment, Pakistan also witnessed a 26% YoY and 11% MoM increase in 2- and 3-wheeler sales, totaling 150,175 units in May—the highest in three years. Cumulatively, 11MFY25 sales hit 1.4 million units, up 30% YoY.

Tractor sales in Pakistan dropped 29% YoY to 2,184 units but rose 36% MoM. Truck and bus sales soared 147% YoY in May to 610 units, bringing 11MFY25 totals to 4,495 units—up 92% YoY.

This resurgence in car sales in Pakistan signals a robust recovery in consumer demand and reflects broader economic stabilization.
