Cardi B turned heads this weekend when she decided to personally hit the streets to promote her upcoming album Am I The Drama? just days before its official release on September 19.
In a move that blended humor with hustle, Cardi set up a small stall on a Manhattan sidewalk, displaying vinyls, CDs, posters, and even incense sticks on a neatly laid black cloth.
The Bronx-born rapper shared the experience with her followers on social media, joking in the caption: “My label said I gotta get out in these streets and sell this album.” Fans immediately lit up the comments section, with many applauding her for embracing old-school mixtape culture. One fan wrote, “She’s hustling like it’s 2008 mixtape days. Respect the grind.” Still, a few skeptics teased that the unusual stunt hinted at concerns over album sales.
For those unable to catch Cardi on the streets, merchandise bundles and multiple album versions were also made available through her official online store. Among the special editions was a “Courtroom Edition,” a tongue-in-cheek nod to her 2018 civil lawsuit, from which she was ultimately cleared.
The new record follows Cardi’s Grammy-winning debut Invasion of Privacy (2018). In a recent Billboard interview, Cardi reflected on how fame shaped her over the past seven years, admitting she has grown tougher and more strategic. She insisted that success isn’t just about sales numbers, but about listeners recognizing quality: “Success for me will be people saying, ‘She put out a great album.’”
With Am I The Drama?, fans can also look forward to confirmed hits like WAP and Up.
