Islamabad, March 31, 2026 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a nationwide weather alert warning of thunderstorms, strong winds, and hailstorms expected to impact multiple regions of Pakistan from April 1 to April 4.

According to the Met Office, a westerly weather system is set to enter southwestern Balochistan on April 1 evening and will gradually spread across the country, bringing widespread rain and unstable weather conditions.

Cities including Quetta, Gwadar, Turbat, Khuzdar, Chaman, and Ziarat are expected to experience rain, thunderstorms, and isolated hailstorms from April 1 to April 4. Coastal areas such as Pasni and Ormara may also receive heavy showers.

🔹 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Rain with thunderstorms and snowfall over mountainous regions is forecast for Peshawar, Swat, Chitral, Abbottabad, and Mansehra. Isolated heavy rainfall and hailstorms are also likely.

🔹 Punjab & Islamabad

Major cities including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Faisalabad, Multan, and Sialkot are expected to receive rain-wind/thunderstorms with chances of hailstorms between April 1 night and April 4. Heavy rainfall is particularly expected in Dera Ghazi Khan.

🔹 Gilgit-Baltistan & Kashmir

Areas such as Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir will see rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall in mountainous areas, with isolated heavy falls and hailstorms.

🔹 Sindh

Cities including Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, and Tharparkar are likely to experience rain and thunderstorms with possible hailstorms from April 2 to April 4.

The PMD has warned of several weather-related risks:

• Flash floods may occur in northeastern Balochistan and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to heavy rainfall.

• Landslides are possible in upper regions including KP, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir.

• Windstorms and lightning could damage weak structures such as electric poles, billboards, and solar panels.

• Agricultural losses are expected as hailstorms may damage standing crops in Punjab, KP, and Sindh.

• Temperature drop is likely during the forecast period, bringing cooler conditions nationwide.
