Pakistan Weather

Islamabad, March 16, 2026 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a detailed weather advisory ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, warning of widespread rain, breezy conditions, and occasional thundery spells from the evening of March 17 through March 20. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and have issued guidance to ensure public safety during the holiday period.

The upcoming weather activity is driven by a westerly wave, a seasonal system expected to enter western Pakistan on March 17 and gradually spread across the country by March 18, easing by March 20.

Balochistan will experience rain, wind, isolated hail, and occasional thunder in cities including Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Zhob, Kalat, Khuzdar, and Gwadar.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is expected to see rainy and breezy conditions, thundery spells, and snowfall in higher hills, affecting Chitral, Dir, Swat, Peshawar, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, and Waziristan, with isolated hail in some areas.

Punjab and Islamabad, including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, and Sialkot, will experience rainy and breezy weather from March 17–20. Southern Punjab cities such as Multan, Bahawalpur, and Dera Ghazi Khan can expect similar conditions on March 18–19.

Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir will witness rain, thundery spells, and snowfall over higher elevations, affecting Hunza, Gilgit, Skardu, Muzaffarabad, and Neelum Valley. Sindh cities including Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana, Sukkur, and Thatta will see rain and thunderstorms on March 18–19.

PMD has cautioned about possible landslides in hilly areas, lightning during thundery spells, and isolated hail affecting crops. Temperatures will feel cooler than usual. Travelers are advised to plan Eid journeys carefully and check road conditions regularly.
