Chery has officially confirmed that it will commence local assembly of its popular SUV lineup, including the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 9, in Pakistan.
The announcement was made by Master Group, which currently manages Chery’s operations in the country.
According to reports, the company revealed that local production of Chery vehicles will begin by January 2026, marking a major step toward strengthening Pakistan’s automotive manufacturing sector.
Chery Master aims to produce both models locally instead of importing them as completely built-up (CBU) units.
This move is expected to make the Tiggo range more affordable and accessible to Pakistani customers while supporting the government’s vision of promoting local automobile manufacturing and employment generation.
The upcoming manufacturing facility, spanning over 60 acres, represents a massive investment of approximately USD 150 million.
The plant is designed to handle large-scale production and ensure high-quality assembly standards in line with Chery’s global benchmarks.
In addition to setting up the production line, the company is also working on expanding its nationwide dealership network, which will soon feature 10 state-of-the-art dealerships across major cities in Pakistan to provide better sales and after-sales services.
While the announcement highlighted Chery’s commitment to advancing automotive technology in Pakistan, it also mentioned the brand’s focus on plug-in hybrid (PHEV) innovation.
However, the company did not confirm whether the Tiggo 9 PHEV variant would be part of the initial locally assembled lineup.
It is expected that the internal combustion engine (ICE) version of the Tiggo 9 will be the first to roll out from the local plant, followed by possible hybrid variants in the future.
The Chery Tiggo 9, known for its premium design, advanced features, and powerful performance, is anticipated to make a strong impact in Pakistan’s mid-size SUV segment once local assembly begins.
With this development, Chery aims to compete more effectively with established brands by offering a blend of modern technology, reliability, and local value addition.
The upcoming local production of the Tiggo 9 and Tiggo 7 signals a significant milestone for Pakistan’s automotive industry, paving the way for greater localization, investment, and innovation in the coming years.
