Chess Federation of Pakistan New Leadership Takes Charge to Revive Chess in Country

The newly elected office-bearers of the Chess Federation of Pakistan (CFP) officially assumed their responsibilities in a formal oath-taking ceremony held at the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) in Islamabad on Monday, marking a renewed push to revive and strengthen chess activities across the country.

The ceremony was administered by Secretary of the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC), Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, who congratulated the newly elected team and assured complete government support for the development and promotion of chess in Pakistan.

He emphasized that the country holds significant untapped talent in mind sports and stressed the need to provide structured opportunities for players at the grassroots and national levels.

New CFP Leadership Announced

As part of the newly formed setup, Zeeshan Naqvi took oath as the President of the Chess Federation of Pakistan. Other key office-bearers include Anwar Saleem as Senior Vice President, Agha Wasim as First Vice President, and Muhammad Wasim as Second Vice President. In addition, Inamullah was sworn in as Third Vice President.

Gohar Iqbal has assumed the role of Secretary General, while Musawir Khan was appointed Finance Secretary. Wasif Nisar took oath as Joint Secretary, and Shahid Khan was named Press Secretary.

Focus on Revival and Growth of Chess

The new leadership has expressed a strong commitment to reviving chess activity at the national level, including strengthening provincial associations, organizing regular tournaments, and identifying young talent from schools and colleges.

The CFP aims to rebuild Pakistan’s presence in regional and international chess competitions.
