China Appoints Sri Lankan as Cricket Head Coach

China has appointed former Sri Lankan international Kaushal Silva as the new head coach of its men’s national cricket team, marking a significant step in the country’s efforts to strengthen its presence on the Asian cricketing stage.

Silva, a seasoned cricketer, represented Sri Lanka in 39 Test matches between 2011 and 2018. During his professional career, he built an impressive record in first-class cricket, scoring 13,932 runs, including 41 centuries across 209 matches.

His transition into coaching came after his playing days, and this appointment marks his first major role as head coach of an international team. 

Cricket Hong Kong, China expressed strong confidence in Silva’s abilities, citing his deep understanding of the game and the experience he brings from playing at the highest level.
