Karachi, February 8, 2026: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah on Sunday praised the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) for successfully organizing the 21st My Karachi – Oasis of Harmony Exhibition, describing it as a remarkable showcase of resilience and optimism by the people of Karachi and Sindh.
Speaking at a press conference at the Karachi Expo Center marking the exhibition’s closing, CM Murad Ali Shah called it one of the most significant and consistently held annual events in Karachi. He highlighted that the exhibition attracts millions of visitors every year, offering discounts of 20 to 40 percent, providing much-needed relief to citizens amid economic challenges.
KCCI’s Role in Promoting Trade and Harmony
CM Shah congratulated KCCI for maintaining the continuity of this mega event despite multiple challenges, reflecting the city’s resilience and the business community’s commitment to promoting trade, culture, and harmony. Key attendees at the closing ceremony included Zubair Motiwala, Jawed Bilwani, Tariq Yousuf, Rehan Hanif, Muhammad Arif Lakhni, Muhammad Idrees, former KCCI presidents, diplomats from friendly countries, and executive committee members of KCCI.
Referring to recent incidents such as the Gul Plaza fire, the Chief Minister praised KCCI for its prompt and responsible role, highlighting the close coordination with the Sindh Government in providing compensation to affected shopkeepers.
Karachi: A Hub of Events and Economic Activity
CM Shah highlighted that Karachi continues to host major events like My Karachi Exhibition, Karachi Literature Festival, and the Urs of Shahbaz Qalandar in Sehwan, demonstrating the city’s vibrancy and Sindh’s resilience. He stressed that strikes and disruptions are unaffordable for the province and urged political parties to adopt constructive approaches while respecting democratic rights.
Focus on Civic Infrastructure and Water Supply
Answering questions on public services, CM Shah admitted the need to improve Karachi’s fire brigade system, promising to consolidate operations under one umbrella and equip them effectively. On the K-IV water supply project, he stated that the federal government manages the main water line, while augmentation works costing around Rs. 80 billion would address Karachi’s water shortage, ensuring better supply for residents.
