CNG stations to remain closed for further 24 hours

KARACHI – Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) announced on Friday that Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations will remain closed for an additional 24 hours as part of gas load management.

With this decision, CNG stations will reopen on Sunday morning at 8:00 AM, after a total closure period of 58 hours.

The move to extend the shutdown period was deemed necessary to meet the escalating demand from domestic and industrial consumers. The gas utility aims to balance the distribution of gas resources and ensure a steady supply to various sectors.

In a notification issued by SSGC, it was explicitly mentioned that any CNG stations found operating during the extended shutdown period would face disconnection of their gas supply. This strict measure is being enforced to ensure compliance with the gas load management schedule and prevent any unauthorized use of gas resources.

To monitor and enforce compliance, SSGC has deployed surveillance teams with the authority to disconnect gas supply for a period of 12 hours for any customer found violating the shutdown schedule. This proactive approach is intended to maintain the integrity of the gas load management plan and deter any non-compliance by CNG stations.

The decision to implement gas load management reflects the ongoing efforts by SSGC to manage the increasing demand for natural gas in a fair and equitable manner. The closure of CNG stations for an extended period is a temporary measure designed to address the immediate needs of domestic and industrial consumers.

Gas load management is a common practice employed by gas utilities to prevent an imbalance between supply and demand, especially during peak consumption periods. By temporarily closing CNG stations, SSGC aims to redirect gas resources to essential sectors, ensuring that the needs of a broader consumer base are met efficiently.

The announcement serves as a reminder to CNG station operators and consumers alike to adhere to the prescribed schedule and contribute to the responsible use of natural gas resources. SSGC’s commitment to monitoring and enforcing compliance underscores the importance of collective efforts to sustain a reliable and equitable supply of natural gas.

As the shutdown period concludes and CNG stations reopen on Sunday morning, the resumption of normal operations will depend on the cooperation of all stakeholders. The ongoing collaboration between SSGC and consumers is crucial to maintaining a sustainable and well-managed gas distribution system that meets the diverse needs of the community.
