Islamabad, October 12, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted that cold weather will continue to dominate the northern regions of the country over the next few days, as continental air persists over most parts of Pakistan.

According to the latest PMD report, mainly dry weather is expected across the country, but cold weather will prevail in the northern areas, particularly during the night and early morning hours. The intensity of cold weather is likely to increase in upper regions such as Gilgit-Baltistan, Chitral, Swat, and Skardu as temperatures continue to drop sharply after sunset.

For Monday, the PMD forecast indicates similar conditions — dry and stable weather across central and southern Pakistan, but with chilly winds maintaining cold weather in the north. Residents have been advised to take precautions, especially in hilly and mountainous regions where the cold is expected to intensify further.

During the past 24 hours, dry weather prevailed across most of Pakistan, though northern parts experienced noticeably cold conditions. Meanwhile, the highest maximum temperatures were recorded in Sibbi, Khairpur, Sukkur, Rohri, Padidan, Shaheed Benazirabad, Tando Jam, Mirpur Khas, Chhor, and Mithi at 37°C, highlighting a stark contrast between the warm southern plains and the cold northern terrain.

The PMD added that the ongoing cold weather spell marks the gradual transition toward the winter season, with temperatures expected to drop further in the coming weeks.
