The Customs Agents Alliance-backed panel won all contested seats in the APCAA elections, defeating the Businessmen Group-backed candidates.
KARACHI: The panel backed by the Customs Agents Alliance has secured a sweeping victory in the annual elections of the All Pakistan Customs Agents Association (APCAA), defeating the panel supported by the Businessmen Group across all contested seats.
The Customs Agents Alliance-backed candidates achieved a clean sweep in both the Associate and Corporate classes, marking a significant outcome in the association’s annual elections.
According to the election results, 494 votes were cast in total. In the Associate Class, the Customs Agents Alliance-backed panel secured 321 votes, compared with 41 votes obtained by the Businessmen Group-backed panel. The election also recorded 63 mixed votes.
In the Corporate Class, 60 votes were cast, with the Customs Agents Alliance-backed candidates securing victories across all contested seats.
The results showed that every candidate nominated by the Customs Agents Alliance was declared successful with substantial majorities, while the candidates fielded by the Businessmen Group were defeated.
Alliance leaders celebrate electoral success
Following the announcement of the results, leaders and supporters of the Customs Agents Alliance, including Asif Sakhi and Khurram Ijaz, celebrated the victory and congratulated the successful candidates.
Alliance representatives expressed their commitment to continuing efforts for the welfare of customs agents and addressing issues confronting the customs clearance community.
The newly elected representatives are expected to focus on matters affecting customs agents, including operational challenges and issues related to customs clearance and trade facilitation.
The election outcome places the Customs Agents Alliance’s representatives in a position to pursue the association’s priorities during the coming term.
