Navi Mumbai, October 23, 2025 – India have officially qualified as the fourth semi-finalist of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup (WCWC) 2025 after a dominant performance against New Zealand at the Dr. DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
With this win, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side join Australia, England, and South Africa in the race for a place in the World Cup final.
India began their World Cup campaign with back-to-back victories over Sri Lanka and Pakistan but stumbled midway with three consecutive losses against South Africa, Australia, and England. Facing New Zealand in a must-win clash, India bounced back strongly — first with an impressive batting effort, then wrapping up the game with a disciplined bowling display to secure two crucial points.
This victory lifted India to six points, courtesy of three wins. Although both New Zealand and Bangladesh can also reach six points with victories in their remaining fixtures, India’s higher number of wins ensures qualification even if they lose their final group-stage match against Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, defending champions Australia were the first to book their semi-final spot, sitting unbeaten atop the table with 11 points from six matches. South Africa, currently at 10 points, followed as the second team to qualify, while four-time champions England confirmed their place after edging out India earlier in the tournament.
The first semi-final of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 will be held on October 29 at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, followed by the second semi-final on October 30 at Dr. DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
