Emotions ran high for Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande as they received their Grammy nominations while on the Wicked: For Good press tour in Paris.

The powerhouse duo learned the news from their castmates, sharing a tearful and heartfelt moment when it was announced that they were nominated for Best Duo/Group Performance at the 68th Grammy Awards for their stunning rendition of “Defying Gravity.” The performance features Erivo’s commanding portrayal of Elphaba and Grande’s enchanting vocals as Glinda, capturing the magic of their on-screen chemistry.

In addition to the joint nomination, Cynthia Erivo earned another nod for Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella for her song “Be Okay” — a standout track from her acclaimed second studio album, I Forgive You.

Taking to Instagram, the Stand Up singer expressed her gratitude, writing, “Don’t really have any words. These last couple of years have been beyond the dream, and I’m just really grateful. Thank you.”

Erivo and Grande face stiff competition in their category, including “Golden” by Huntr/x: Ejae, Audrey Nuna, Rei Ami (KPop Demon Hunters), “Gabriela” by KATSEYE, “Apt.” by Rosé and Bruno Mars, and “30 for 30” by SZA and Kendrick Lamar.

The 68th Grammy Awards are set to air on February 1, 2026, with fans eagerly awaiting to see if the Wicked stars take home the coveted trophy.

Fans praised their emotional reaction and powerful vocals, calling Defying Gravity one of the most iconic musical performances of the year.
