Dakota Johnson’s playful SNL monologue and a surprise Cleveland reference have reignited speculation about her rumoured romance with Machine Gun Kelly.
Dakota Johnson has appeared to fuel speculation that she is dating Machine Gun Kelly during her Saturday Night Live hosting debut, with Taylor Swift seemingly adding to the intrigue.
During her monologue on October 3, Johnson, who turned 37 the following day, joked about her history of dating musicians, including Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and singer-songwriter Role Model.
“I went through two very public, breakups with two very awesome musicians. Looking for a third,” Johnson quipped, prompting laughter from the audience.
The Fifty Shades of Grey star then compared dating musicians to a “psychosexual erotic thriller”, linking the joke to her latest film, Verity.
Taylor Swift adds to the speculation
Johnson went on to say that her close friends do not judge her romantic choices and instead support her decisions.
Swift then joined Johnson on stage, setting up another playful reference to the actress’s reported relationship with Machine Gun Kelly, whose real name is Colson Baker.
Johnson joked that she was doing a “public service” by dating musicians and helping women save money on antidepressants before making a reference to Cleveland.
Swift immediately cheered, prompting further speculation because her husband, Travis Kelce, is also from Ohio.
According to TMZ, Johnson and Baker reportedly met at Swift and Kelce’s wedding in May.
The pair were also reportedly spotted together on September 12, when they were seen leaving a black SUV before entering Swift’s TriBeCa apartment.
Dakota Johnson keeps romance speculation alive
Johnson’s SNL comments stopped short of officially confirming a relationship with Baker. However, her Cleveland reference and Swift’s reaction have added fresh fuel to ongoing speculation surrounding the pair.
Neither Johnson nor Machine Gun Kelly has publicly confirmed that they are in a relationship.
