David Corenswet Reveals No Advice from Former Supermen

Entertainment World

David Corenswet, the new face of Superman, is ready to soar without any detailed advice from the actors who previously donned the iconic cape.

As excitement builds for James Gunn’s highly anticipated Superman reboot, Corenswet shared insights at the London premiere, revealing that past Supermen Henry Cavill and Tyler Hoechlin chose not to offer specific guidance on the role.

During a red carpet interview with Heart, Corenswet explained that both Cavill and Hoechlin were supportive, but respectfully stepped back from giving acting tips. “Both of them, interestingly, sort of said in their own words, ‘I’m not gonna try and give you any tips,’” he noted.

He added that this gesture felt aligned with Superman’s own nature—more about inspiration than instruction. “Superman’s not so much for giving advice or dictating how other people should be,” Corenswet said. Instead, the previous actors offered encouragement and the freedom for him to make the role his own.

“They really just conveyed to me a sense of ‘have fun with it,’ which I think is Superman’s way of doing it too,” he shared, emphasizing the warm and positive experience he had. Corenswet also expressed his excitement about the possibility of meeting both Cavill and Hoechlin in person, saying, “It’ll be great when we can all get in a room together.”

The upcoming film, Superman, is set to hit theaters on July 11 and boasts a star-studded cast. Rachel Brosnahan plays Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult takes on Lex Luthor, María Gabriela de Faría portrays The Engineer, Nathan Fillion stars as Green Lantern, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, and Isabela Merced appears as Hawkgirl.

As Corenswet takes flight in this new chapter of the DC Universe, fans eagerly await his fresh take on the legendary superhero, bringing hope, strength, and inspiration to a new generation.
