Master Changan Motors Limited has officially begun volume production of the Deepal S05 REEV, making it Pakistan’s first locally assembled premium range-extended electric vehicle (REEV).
The development signals a notable step for the local auto industry, especially as manufacturers increasingly explore electrified mobility options suited to domestic conditions.
Rather than being just another SUV launch, the Deepal S05 REEV highlights Changan Pakistan’s broader strategy around localization and gradual electrification.
By opting for a range-extended setup instead of a fully electric configuration, the company appears to be addressing common concerns around charging infrastructure and long-distance usability in Pakistan.
This approach allows drivers to rely on electric power for daily commutes while retaining flexibility for extended journeys.
Competing in the C-segment SUV category, the Deepal S05 aims to balance efficiency, performance, and practicality. It carries an ex-factory price of Rs 9,999,000, with bookings open at Rs 2,000,000.
From a performance perspective, the S05 REEV produces 215 horsepower and offers a claimed 170 km pure electric range under NEDC standards.
When combined with its range extender, the total driving range exceeds 1,000 km. The rear-wheel-drive configuration is designed to deliver smooth on-road dynamics, while the extended range may help reduce anxiety for users frequently traveling between cities.
Visually, the Deepal S05 adopts a futuristic design language. Its aerodynamic profile features a 0.25 Cd drag coefficient, complemented by Smart Wing LED headlights, Star Wing tail-lamps, frameless doors, and 18-inch alloy wheels.
The model’s styling credentials have already received international recognition, including the 2025 iF Design Award and the Turin Automotive Design Award.
Inside the cabin, the focus shifts to comfort and digital integration. The interior offers a panoramic stargazing roof, zero-gravity co-driver seat, heated and ventilated front seats, and 64-color ambient lighting.
Powering the infotainment system is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor paired with Huawei Harmony OS, displayed through a 15.4-inch central screen and an augmented-reality head-up display.
On the safety front, the Deepal S05 REEV is equipped with the FutureSense 2.0 driver assistance suite, which includes adaptive cruise control, lane centering assist, collision avoidance features, and remote parking support.
With local assembly, REEV technology, and a feature-rich package, the Deepal S05 REEV enters Pakistan’s market as a noteworthy addition.
