Deepti Sharma’s all-round heroics power India to historic WCWC 2025 title win over South Africa

Navi Mumbai, November 2, 2025 – India Women scripted history on Sunday, lifting the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup (WCWC) 2025 trophy after a commanding 52-run victory against South Africa at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.

Batting first in the grand finale, India posted a formidable total of 298/7 in their allotted 50 overs. Star all-rounder Deepti Sharma played a crucial role, scoring a composed 58 runs before delivering a match-winning performance with the ball. Her stunning five-wicket haul for 39 runs in 9.3 overs dismantled South Africa’s chase, securing India’s long-awaited World Cup glory.

South Africa’s captain Laura Wolvaardt fought valiantly with a magnificent century, but her effort went in vain as the team was bowled out for 246 in 45.3 overs.
