Demi Lovato Defends ‘Fast’ as 2025’s Song of the Summer

Singer and songwriter Demi Lovato is pushing back against the idea that 2025 didn’t have a true “song of the summer.” The pop star believes her latest hit “Fast” — along with several other standout tracks — defined the season’s soundtrack.

During a recent appearance on the Las Culturistas podcast, Lovato addressed the viral claim that this year lacked a summer anthem. “What are you talking about?” she said with a laugh. “Not only did I release ‘Fast’, but there were so many amazing songs that dropped this summer.”

Lovato, 33, went on to praise her fellow artists in the pop scene, saying, “All the pop girlies are having their moments right now. You’ve got ADÉLA, who I absolutely stan. You’ve got Gaga, Sabrina [Carpenter], Tate McRae, Kesha, Kim Petras, and PinkPantheress — and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.”

The Heart Attack hitmaker also commented on how short attention spans in the social media age can make it difficult for fans to appreciate full songs. “Everyone has brain rot and can’t think past the 30-second TikTok mark — and I totally get it. But still, stream ‘Fast’,” she joked.

Lovato recently released her new album It’s Not That Deep, which has been praised for its energetic sound and unapologetic lyrics. The project marks another bold chapter in her evolution as an artist, showing that Demi is far from slowing down — musically or personally.
