Deported Pakistanis face FIRs, passport cancellation, travel ban

Islamabad, May 24, 2025 – The Government of Pakistan has decided to initiate tough legal and administrative measures against deported Pakistani nationals, including the registration of First Information Reports (FIRs) and passport cancellation.

The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad to cancel passport of deported Pakistani. The meeting addressed the growing concerns over the increasing number of Pakistani citizens being deported from various countries for illegal immigration, fraudulent documentation, and other violations. As per the new directive, FIRs will now be lodged against all deported individuals upon their return, and their passports will be immediately canceled.

It was also resolved that deported individuals will be added to the Passport Control List for a period of five years, barring them from obtaining new passports or traveling abroad during that time. This step aims to curb the misuse of Pakistani travel documents and discourage unlawful migration practices.

In order to enforce these new policies effectively, the Interior Minister ordered the formation of a special committee under the leadership of the Interior Secretary. The committee’s primary objective will be to review, strengthen, and update the country’s passport laws and immigration procedures to prevent future incidents involving deported nationals.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that the actions of deported Pakistanis are tarnishing the country’s image at the international level. He stressed that there will be zero tolerance moving forward and that strict penalties are necessary to maintain the country’s dignity and credibility.

Key officials present at the meeting included Minister of State for Interior Tallal Chaudhry, Interior Secretary Khurram Agha, DG FIA Riffat Mukhtar Raja, and DG Passports Mustafa Jamal Qazi.

This decisive policy signals the government’s commitment to holding deported individuals accountable for their actions and maintaining the integrity of Pakistan’s passport system on the global stage.
