Karachi, October 11, 2024 – Dewan Farooq Motors Limited (DFML) made a significant announcement on Friday regarding the delivery of the first batch of electric vehicles (EVs) to Eco-Green Motors Limited (EGML). In a statement shared with the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), DFML confirmed the successful assembly of these vehicles under a toll manufacturing agreement, marking a pivotal moment for the local electric vehicle industry.
The announcement follows the official commencement of EV production by DFML in September 2024, after receiving approval from the Engineering Development Board (EDB). This milestone was achieved after the EDB conducted a thorough physical verification of DFML’s assembly plant facilities, ensuring that they met the necessary standards for manufacturing operations.
According to DFML, the EDB’s inspection confirmed that the production line is ready for operation, paving the way for the local assembly of electric vehicles. “Following the approval, the production of electric vehicles has now commenced at the assembly plant under the toll manufacturing agreement with the associated company EGML,” the company stated in its communication. This strategic collaboration with EGML positions DFML as a prominent player in Pakistan’s burgeoning EV market.
Earlier in the year, DFML had announced its entry into the EV sector through a partnership with EGML. On May 30, 2024, the company revealed its plans to manufacture the Honri-VE series, which features models with a driving range of 200 kilometers and 300 kilometers. This initiative is aimed at addressing the increasing demand for eco-friendly transportation options in Pakistan, particularly as the government promotes electric mobility to combat pollution and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
The launch of the Honri-VE series is expected to offer consumers a sustainable alternative, contributing to the nation’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions. With a growing focus on environmental sustainability and the transition to green technologies, DFML’s commitment to producing electric vehicles signifies a step forward in the automotive industry.
As the EV market continues to evolve, the successful dispatch of the first lot of vehicles marks a promising beginning for DFML and its partnership with EGML. Industry analysts are optimistic that this collaboration will not only enhance DFML’s market presence but also spur further investments in the electric vehicle sector, potentially leading to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation ecosystem in Pakistan.
With the global automotive industry shifting towards electric mobility, DFML’s proactive approach positions it to capitalize on emerging trends, making it a key player in shaping the future of transportation in the region.
