Novak Djokovic, the seven-time Wimbledon champion from Serbia, progressed to the quarterfinals by defeating Hubert Hurkacz. Despite an interruption due to the curfew, Djokovic sealed the victory with a 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (8-6), 4-6, 6-4 scoreline.

Daniil Medvedev, the third seed, also secured a spot in the quarterfinals as his Czech opponent, Jiri Lehecka, retired from their match. This marks Medvedev’s first time reaching the last eight at Wimbledon.

In a surprising turn of events, American debutant Chris Eubanks caused an upset by defeating the fifth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in a thrilling five-set match, winning 3-6, 7-6 (4), 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. This achievement marks Eubanks’ first quarterfinal appearance at a Grand Slam tournament.

Shifting to the women’s category, defending champion Elena Rybakina advanced to the quarterfinals after her opponent, Beatriz Haddad Maia, retired due to an injury.

Aryna Sabalenka, the second seed, secured her spot in the last eight with an impressive 6-4, 6-0 victory over Ekaterina Alexandrova.

Unfortunately, Mirra Andreeva’s Wimbledon journey came to an end amid controversy. The 16-year-old Russian player received a point deduction for throwing her racquet during her match against Madison Keys. Despite saving a match point, Andreeva ultimately lost with a score of 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2.

Victoria Azarenka, the Belarusian player, faced disappointment as she was unable to progress further in the tournament.

Her match against Elina Svitolina of Ukraine ended with a confrontation, and Azarenka faced boos during the post-match handshakes due to the political situation.

Azarenka acknowledged Svitolina by raising her racquet, prompting a demand from Svitolina for tennis officials to inform the crowd about the war-related situation. Azarenka lost the Court One thriller with a score of 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (11-9).
