A distinguished acting career

Born in Luton, Bedfordshire, Tom Chadbon trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) before making his professional stage debut in 1967.

Over the following decades, he built a distinguished career across theatre, television, and film, appearing in productions at the Bristol Old Vic, the National Theatre, and London’s West End.

His extensive television résumé included acclaimed series such as Casualty, Holby City, Heartbeat, Silent Witness, Midsomer Murders, Father Brown, The Bill, Blake’s 7, and Taggart, earning him recognition as one of Britain’s most respected character actors.

Iconic roles in Doctor Who and Game of Thrones

Chadbon became a fan favourite among Doctor Who viewers after portraying detective Duggan opposite Tom Baker in the classic 1979 serial City of Death.

He later appeared in Game of Thrones, portraying High Septon Maynard during the show’s seventh season, adding another memorable performance to his long list of credits.
