Disney alum and Emmy-winning actress Dove Cameron is gearing up to release her highly anticipated debut album this year, marking a major milestone in her music career. The announcement comes four years after her breakthrough single “Boyfriend” and several successful projects, including her 2022 EP, Alchemical: Volume 1.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight on February 6, Cameron explained why her debut album has taken so long to materialize. “I’m gonna hopefully be releasing my debut album this year. I’ve finally been given the green light by my label, which I was waiting on for a long time,” she said.
The 30-year-old singer revealed that the album underwent three rewrites to find its true identity. “When you release singles, those singles go out into the world and you’re kind of cannibalising your own record. And then it sort of morphs and shifts,” Cameron explained. She added that turning 30 allowed her to appreciate the final product: “Now that I’m not 27 and I’m 30, it did end up being something that I am happy that these are the songs.”
Before launching her solo career, Cameron contributed vocals to soundtrack albums for Liv and Maddie and the Descendants franchise. In 2019, she signed with Disruptor Records under Columbia Records, releasing her debut single Bloodshot. Her EP, Alchemical: Volume 1, featured the chart-topping single “Boyfriend”, which garnered widespread attention and solidified her transition from Disney star to pop artist.
Fans can now eagerly anticipate Cameron’s full-length debut, which promises a carefully crafted collection of tracks reflecting her artistic growth and evolving sound.
