Canadian rapper becomes solo male artist with most Billboard No. 1 hits after another record-breaking chart run
Drake has surpassed Michael Jackson to become the solo male artist with the most No. 1 hits on Billboard charts following another dominant stretch of commercial success.
The milestone was achieved after Drake’s track “Janice STFU” climbed to the top position, adding another chart-topping single to the rapper’s expanding list of Billboard achievements.
The accomplishment follows a prolific period for the Grammy-winning artist, who released three albums within a little more than two years after his highly publicized rap feud with Kendrick Lamar.
All three projects performed strongly on streaming platforms and global music charts, reinforcing Drake’s continued commercial influence despite industry speculation that the rivalry could affect his popularity.
In another major record, the “One Dance” hitmaker placed 42 songs simultaneously on the Billboard Hot 100 during a single week, surpassing the previous record of 37 tracks held by Morgan Wallen.
The latest chart surge also pushed Drake’s total Billboard Hot 100 career entries to 400, extending his lead among the most successful chart performers in music history.
Producer and frequent collaborator Gordo said he was surprised by the scale of Drake’s recent output.
“I knew it was going to be two albums,” Gordo told Rolling Stone. “I didn’t know it was going to be three.”
He added that even members of Drake’s inner circle were unaware of the full scope of the rapper’s plans.
“It’s super, super different,” Gordo said while discussing the projects. “Obviously, I’ve heard the rap stuff, but him doing all the crossover stuff with me, that’s just the coolest thing about it.”
Drake’s latest achievements further strengthen his position as one of the most commercially successful artists of the streaming era, with his catalog continuing to dominate global music consumption trends.
