Islamabad, March 22, 2025 – The weather in Punjab continues to heat up as a prolonged dry spell grips the province, leading to rising temperatures and intensifying daytime heat.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast that the current weather pattern will persist for at least the next three days, with no signs of rain to provide relief.
According to the PMD, Punjab is expected to experience increasingly hot and dry conditions, with Lahore and other major cities seeing a gradual rise in temperatures. The minimum temperature recorded in Lahore was 18°C, while the maximum is expected to reach 32°C. The heat will be more pronounced in urban areas, where concrete structures contribute to higher daytime temperatures. However, despite the scorching afternoons, the weather will offer some respite at night as cooler temperatures prevail.
The PMD has cautioned residents across Punjab to take necessary precautions against the harsh weather, especially during peak afternoon hours when the sun is at its strongest. The ongoing dry spell in Punjab is causing concerns for farmers and residents who rely on seasonal rainfall for agriculture and water supply.
Meanwhile, Karachi is also experiencing a surge in temperature, with the city recording 36.9°C on Friday. The PMD predicts that Karachi’s weather will continue to heat up over the weekend, with maximum temperatures expected to surpass 37°C. The hot weather in Karachi is expected to persist, prompting authorities to advise the public to stay hydrated and avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during peak heat hours.
With no forecast of immediate rainfall, Punjab’s weather conditions are expected to remain dry, further contributing to the rising temperatures. Meteorologists have warned that if this dry spell continues, it could lead to an increase in heatwave conditions in different parts of Punjab. Residents are urged to stay updated with official weather forecasts and take appropriate measures to cope with the ongoing extreme weather.
As Punjab braces for continued dry and hot weather, the authorities are monitoring the situation closely. The PMD will issue further updates regarding any changes in Punjab’s weather pattern in the coming days.
