The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather prediction indicating the likelihood of dust storms or dust-raising winds in various districts of Sindh on Thursday, August 10, 2023.
Additionally, rain-thunderstorms are forecasted for the southeast and coastal areas of Sindh during this period.
While the rest of the country is expected to experience hot and humid conditions, the PMD anticipates rain, wind, and thundershowers in upper Punjab, Islamabad, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Kashmir. The current synoptic situation, as explained by the PMD, involves a shallow westerly wave present over the upper regions of Pakistan.
Over the past 24 hours, hot and humid weather has dominated most parts of the country. However, there were isolated instances of rain-thundershowers in northeast Punjab and Kashmir.
The recorded highest maximum temperatures for today (°C) are as follows: Dalbandin 44, Nokkundi and Sibbi 43.
As the weather patterns evolve, residents and authorities in the concerned regions are advised to stay informed about the latest weather updates and take necessary precautions in accordance with the forecasts. The PMD emphasizes the importance of preparedness, especially in areas where dust storms and rain-thunderstorms are anticipated.
Dust storms, characterized by strong winds carrying fine particles of dust, can impact visibility and air quality. Residents are advised to take preventive measures such as securing loose objects and avoiding outdoor activities during dust storms. In areas expecting rain-thunderstorms, precautions should include checking drainage systems, clearing clogged gutters, and staying alert to the potential for flash flooding.
The PMD urges the public to stay tuned to official weather updates, follow guidelines from local authorities, and adopt safety measures to mitigate the impact of adverse weather conditions. Authorities are encouraged to disseminate timely information and coordinate preparedness efforts to ensure the well-being of residents in the affected areas.
As August 10 approaches, vigilance and adherence to safety guidelines will be crucial in minimizing the potential risks associated with the forecasted weather conditions. The PMD remains committed to providing accurate and timely information to support public safety initiatives across the country.
