Final chapter of the Jumanji franchise shifts the jungle adventure into the real world ahead of its Christmas 2026 release.
Dwayne Johnson has unveiled the first official trailer for Jumanji: Open World, giving fans their first look at the action-packed conclusion to the blockbuster adventure franchise.
The wrestler-turned-actor shared the trailer on Instagram on Wednesday, July 29, confirming that the long-running series is returning for one final adventure.
“One. Last. Game. The final countdown begins. Watch the new trailer for #Jumanji: Open World,” Johnson wrote alongside the trailer, generating excitement among fans worldwide.
The upcoming comedy-adventure film takes the franchise in a new direction by bringing the dangers of Jumanji into the real world rather than transporting players into the game’s digital jungle.
Release date changed to avoid Dune 3 clash
Sony Pictures has also confirmed that Jumanji: Open World will now arrive in cinemas on December 25, 2026, after its original release date of December 11 was pushed back.
The move allows the film to avoid direct competition with the highly anticipated Dune 3, which features an ensemble cast including Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Florence Pugh, and Rebecca Ferguson.
Returning cast reunites for final adventure
The film reunites many of the franchise’s biggest stars, including Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan, who reprise their roles as the game’s iconic avatars.
The supporting cast also includes Madison Iseman, Nick Jonas, and Danny DeVito, among others.
The trailer opens with a group of unsuspecting teenagers who find themselves caught in another Jumanji adventure. This time, however, the game’s dangerous creatures and challenges spill into ordinary streets, turning the real world into a chaotic battleground.
Unlike previous installments, where teenagers were trapped inside adult avatar bodies within the game, the new film lets audiences watch the characters navigate the real world while maintaining the franchise’s trademark humor and action.
