Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has spoken out after his latest film, The Smashing Machine, recorded the lowest opening weekend of his career.

The 53-year-old actor took to Instagram to express gratitude to his fans for supporting the project despite its underwhelming box office debut.

“From deep in my grateful bones, thank you to everyone who has watched The Smashing Machine,” Johnson wrote. “In our storytelling world, you can’t control box office results. But what you can control is your performance and your commitment to completely disappear and go elsewhere. And I will always run to that opportunity.”

The film, directed by Benny Safdie, stars Johnson as MMA fighter Mark Kerr, with Emily Blunt in a supporting role. The actor shared that the transformative role helped him reconnect with his craft on a deeper level. “Truth is, this film has changed my life,” he added, thanking Safdie for his trust and creative vision.

The Smashing Machine faced tough competition upon release, opening the same weekend as Taylor Swift’s concert movie The Official Release Party of a Showgirl, which grossed $33 million. Meanwhile, Leonardo DiCaprio’s One Battle After Another earned $11 million in its second week, while Johnson’s film managed $6 million.

Despite the disappointing numbers, fans praised Johnson for his humility and honesty. Many lauded his positive attitude, calling him an inspiration for staying grounded even during career challenges.
