Hollywood megastar Dwayne Johnson has finally spoken about the disappointing box office debut of his latest film, The Smashing Machine.

Despite the underwhelming performance, the actor expressed deep gratitude toward fans who supported the project.

Taking to Instagram, Dwayne shared a heartfelt message, writing, “From deep in my grateful bones, thank you to everyone who has watched The Smashing Machine.” The 53-year-old star, best known for Red Notice and Black Adam, reflected on his emotional journey portraying former UFC champion Mark Kerr.

“In our storytelling world, you can’t control box office results,” Dwayne noted. “But what you can control is your performance, your dedication, and your willingness to disappear completely into a character.”

The actor praised director Benny Safdie for his belief in him, adding, “It was my honour to transform in this role for my director, Benny Safdie. Thank you, brother, for believing in me.”

Despite The Smashing Machine earning just $5.9 million domestically—making it the lowest opening of Dwayne Johnson’s career—the actor maintained an optimistic tone, emphasizing personal growth over commercial success.

“Truth is, this film has changed my life,” Dwayne concluded. “With deep gratitude, respect, and radical empathy.”

The A24 biopic, while struggling financially, has been praised for Dwayne Johnson’s powerful and transformative performance, signaling a bold new chapter in his acting career.
