Dynamites Crush Challengers to Win Pakistan Cup Women’s Final

In an impressive display of cricket, Dynamites triumphed over Challengers by a massive 132-run margin in the final match of the Pakistan Cup Women’s Cricket Tournament 2022-23. The exhilarating game took place on June 04, 2023 at the State Bank Stadium in Karachi.

Sidra Nawaz’s unbeaten century, along with the stellar performance of spinners Ghulam Fatima and Nashra Sundhu who took a combined total of seven wickets, contributed to Dynamites’ well-deserved victory.

Led by Sidra Amin, the Dynamites team claimed the winner’s prize money of Rs1 million, while Challengers, captained by Omaima Sohail, settled for a consolation prize of Rs0.5 million.

This win marked the second consecutive triumph for Dynamites against Challengers in the final of this one-day tournament. They previously defeated Challengers by a staggering 190-run margin in the 2018 edition held at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

Batting first, Dynamites posted a respectable total of 211 runs for the loss of six wickets in their allotted 45 overs. Although they suffered an early setback with the dismissal of Khadija Chishti in the 10th over, player of the tournament Sidra Amin joined forces with wicketkeeper-batter Sidra Nawaz, and together they added a valuable 52-run partnership for the second wicket.

After the departure of Sidra Amin, who ended the tournament with an impressive tally of 269 runs in the one-day phase, Sidra Nawaz took charge and played fearlessly.

She remained unbeaten on a remarkable 103 runs off 112 deliveries, becoming the first centurion of the tournament. Her innings included 13 boundaries and played a pivotal role in securing Dynamites’ victory.

Challengers’ bowler Noreen Yaqub managed to take two wickets for 53 runs from her nine overs, finishing as one of the standout performers in the one-day stage of the competition with a total of eight wickets.

In response, Challengers’ batsmen faced constant pressure and struggled to settle in. As a result, they lost wickets at regular intervals, ultimately getting bowled out for a mere 79 runs in 28.5 overs. Javeria Khan was the top scorer for Challengers, contributing 28 runs off 53 balls, including two fours.

She was among the only three players from her team to reach double figures in the match. Throughout the tournament, Javeria scored a total of 161 runs from five matches, securing the second spot on the batting charts after Sidra Amin.

Dynamites’ spin duo of Ghulam Fatima and Nashra Sundhu wreaked havoc on Challengers’ batting lineup. Nashra claimed an impressive four wickets for just five runs in 4.5 overs, while leg-spinner Ghulam Fatima secured three wickets for five runs in four overs.

Ghulam Fatima emerged as the leading wicket-taker of the tournament with a total of 12 scalps from five matches, while Nashra stood second on the bowling charts with 11 wickets to her name.
