Islamabad, February 19, 2026 — The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on Thursday approved the immediate release of Rs19 billion for the Prime Minister’s Ramazan Relief Package (PMRRP) 2026 to ensure timely disbursement of financial assistance to vulnerable segments of society during the holy month.
The meeting, chaired virtually by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb, reviewed a summary submitted by the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety seeking approval of Rs25 billion for the relief initiative. The Finance Division informed the committee that Rs19 billion had already been allocated in the current fiscal budget, while the remaining amount would be released based on evolving requirements and fiscal space.
The ECC also examined the proposed operational expenditure and granted in-principle approval of Rs1 billion, subject to submission of a detailed cost breakdown. The committee emphasized transparency, fiscal prudence, and strict compliance with financial rules, particularly regarding payments to partner financial institutions and outreach activities.
To ensure early assistance, the ECC regularized steps already taken to initiate payments through re-appropriated funds. It reiterated that all expenditures would align with Pakistan’s fiscal commitments and that any unutilized funds would be surrendered under established procedures.
The Prime Minister’s Ramazan Relief Package 2026 aims to provide one-time cash assistance to low-income households, selected transparently using data from the National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER). Funds will be disbursed directly through formal banking and digital channels, ensuring secure, efficient, and dignified support for deserving families throughout Ramazan.
