British music sensation Ed Sheeran has heaped praise on American pop star Olivia Rodrigo following their surprise duet at London’s iconic BST Hyde Park concert series.

The duo performed together on Friday, June 27, stunning fans with a heartfelt rendition of Sheeran’s breakthrough hit The A Team.

Taking to Instagram after the performance, the 34-year-old Grammy winner shared a photo alongside Rodrigo and penned a touching tribute to the Driver’s License singer. “Since Driver’s License blew my mind at the start of 2021, I’ve been a proper fan,” Sheeran wrote. “Both of her albums—Sour and Guts—are all hits for me.”

Sheeran, who first met Rodrigo at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022, reflected on their early connection, recalling they were seated together alongside their parents. “We went on to hang out and keep in touch from there,” he shared.

The Perfect hitmaker also revealed that he had planned to attend Rodrigo’s Hyde Park show as a fan, but was thrilled when she asked him to join her on stage. “She hit me up and asked to sing The A Team with her, which was such a thrill,” he said. “That song turns 15 this year… to still be playing it to new fans with one of the brightest stars of the next generation is an honour and a privilege.”

Sheeran concluded his message with a shoutout to Rodrigo, who is also scheduled to appear at Glastonbury: “Rocking Glastonbury on Sunday, @oliviarodrigo, the UK loves you.”

Rodrigo’s performance at Hyde Park is being hailed as one of the standout moments of this year’s BST concert series, which also features global acts like Sabrina Carpenter, Neil Young, and Stevie Wonder.

The on-stage chemistry and mutual admiration between the two artists have sparked excitement among fans, who are now hoping for more collaborations between Sheeran and Rodrigo in the future.
