Award-winning actress Elisabeth Moss recently offered fans an inside look into her experience filming The Handmaid’s Tale and her openness to reprising her iconic role as Peggy Olson in a potential Mad Men reboot.
Appearing on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live, Moss spoke with host Andy Cohen about the challenges of directing herself in the dystopian drama’s final season. “I’m pretty cold about it, in the sense of, I give myself options,” Moss explained candidly. She added, “If I think I need to do something else, I do it again.”
Best known for her powerful performances in The Handmaid’s Tale and The Shining Girls, Moss noted that she’s not particularly sentimental about the process. “I’m not emotional about it at all,” she said. “I think the hardest thing is making everybody wait while I watch it to make sure it’s OK — because it feels obviously incredibly […] to be sitting there reviewing your own performance.”
The conversation also turned to the possibility of a Mad Men reboot, and whether she’d be willing to return as fan-favorite character Peggy Olson. “Thank you for wanting that,” Moss responded with a smile. “I would never say, ‘No,’ to anything like that. I’m not one of those people who’s like, ‘I want to move on.’”
Reflecting on her experience with the critically acclaimed series, Moss expressed deep appreciation. “Mad Men is one of the greatest things I’ve ever done — and will ever do,” she said. “I would be super happy to play that character again. I loved playing her.”
As the sixth and final season of The Handmaid’s Tale continues to unfold — with its finale slated for May 27 on Hulu — fans are savoring every moment of Moss’s powerful portrayal of June Osborne.
Whether behind the camera or in front of it, Moss continues to solidify her reputation as one of television’s most dynamic and versatile talents.
